Today, as I drove down the street a little boy waved at me very happily, asking for nothing but a smile in return. He was the very picture of innocence on a spring day, so welcome to my heart, so awestruck I am still by his simple gesture. Life's greatest pleasures are around the next corner!

Hi Ron,
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to see you at my humble blog.
I love this post; it instantly reminded me of a summer day several years ago. We were taking our kids home from camp and passed a house on a rural road with a little boy sitting outside selling lemonade.
Something about the sweet scene made me want to go back. I asked Ralph to turn the van around. He did, I got out and bought paper cups full of lemonade from the boy, whose mother was peeking out from the front door.
Thanks for sparking a memory!
I'm glad you found me through Ruby Tuesday; this way now I've found you.
A smile can turn a day around, a life around, maybe someday a world! Sweet post!
ReplyDelete@ Patti, Boy that was a great memory you shared. Sounds like such a simple thing changed your life!

ReplyDeleteI love this! That could have been my son. It makes me happy to hear that he could be spreading joy and all this time I worried about him bothering people. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat comment, Lee-Ann. Kids are a blessing :)
ReplyDeletesimple things and simple gestures are the ones that makes us truly happy..sometimes people just don't feel it...nice words Ron..keep posting!
ReplyDeleteyou have lots of beautiful words here..thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteRubz and Webblogirl, Thanks for stopping by and saying such nice things...have a great day :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Except the little boy in our neighborhood always wants me to rev the engine on my motorcycle when I go by:)
ReplyDelete:) You made me smile on that one, Barbara...that's kinda touching!
ReplyDeleteYes they are just around the corner. Mostly small, subtle things, but with the greatest power to make us happy.
ReplyDeleteI love the simple smile of a child, offered in sincere friendship. The word sincere is almost directly from the latin roots meaning,"without wax". In this day and age of "plastic smiles" a child's innocence reminds us of what is real. You say alot in very few words. Rosemary
ReplyDeleteHi Amila
ReplyDeleteHi Rosemary
Thanks to you both for your wonderful comments. Let's praise the innocence of youth!
Ron
